Since applying and being accepted as a student volunteer for
Tanzania, I have had the opportunity to grow as an active individual in community
service around the Vail Valley. It brings me great pride when explaining my
accomplishments with CGA, and I how I will be continuing my volunteer career on
the continent of Africa!
As a volunteer, I will be completing fifteen hours of
community service before the trip. On Thanksgiving Day, I chose to volunteer
for the Vail Valley Foundation’s 7th Annual Turkey Trot. Here, I was
put to work encouraging the runners and helping set up the food station after
the race. It was invigorating and extremely rewarding to represent CGA at this
event. I spoke with members of the Vail Valley Foundation about my travels and
volunteer work in various countries, while also explaining Children’s Global
Alliance’s mission and the nonprofit’s incredible work. With this, I also heard
the stories of other volunteers and how they have also become intrigued with
giving back to the community. It was a very exciting morning and I am grateful
that I got to complete community service hours working with the Vail Valley
Foundation.
In these past few months, I have had the privilege to begin
great friendships with some of my fellow volunteers to whom I will be working
with at the Naserian School and Orphanage; and I am excited to further our
relationship through volunteering. I think that we have a remarkably strong
team of leaders that will work together, enabling us to accomplish many
difficult, yet indescribably important tasks in in Tanzania. Volunteering in
Tanzania will be a great challenge, but I think that our team will maintain courageous
strength to impact and change the lives of the students and orphans at
Naserian.
